Palazzo Scippa

Cent. 19th

The Scippa brothers built their palace upon the remains of the ancient three-towered castle built by Frederick II in 1255 and destroyed in 1808 which once dominated the confines of the Norman town. This palace reflects the neoclassical style of its time, with a sober and symmetrical façade, large rooms and decorative elements inspired by classical antiquity, such as friezes and geometrical motifs. The bird room is decorated with frescoes depicting allegorical figures and birds, inspired by the Pompeian art of Neapolitan tradition.
